She enjoyed feeling his jealousy at the mere idea of someone else touching something he considered to be his. Not because it hurt him or because she thought she belonged to him in any way, but because it made her feel valued. And what did that say about her?
He hated being indebted to another. It took too much of his control and created unnecessary vulnerabilities.
“Yet you bear a new Mark,” the Anala Lady said with a pointed glance to his right hand where Tessa had drawn the Achaz symbol. He knew he should still be outraged by it, but it was a piece of her she could never have back. It might be the only piece of her she’d ever freely give him, so he didn’t despise the marking on his hand like he should, even if it was a rival kingdom’s symbol.
So determined to have her vengeance, she’d become everything she’d hated about Devram. It was the only way to survive in a realm full of villains. You had to become one.
She shook her head, the tears streaming now. “None of you know how to love.” “Or maybe you just don’t know how to let yourself be loved.”
“You can’t kill her with a sword, but I will make you wish for death for even thinking you could achieve it.”
“Tessalyn Ausra, I would sacrifice all the realms and all the stars for you. You are perfectly wild. Perfectly untamed. You were not made to be caged, nor were you made to be a sacrifice for a realm that does not deserve such a gift. You were made to live in the light. Go live, little storm.”
