“Be who you were meant to be, Tessalyn,” he said, his voice low. “My freedom depends on it.”
I’m going to be the one who lets you decide whether you’re going to crawl, run, or fly, and I won’t catch you unless you ask me to.”
“Easy, baby girl,”
Luka had always been drawn to this. A female asking him for what she wanted. Giving her what she needed fulfilled some deep-seated purpose of taking care of her.
“But wishes and hope are for the innocent and the heroes, not the monsters and the villains, so I no longer bother with either.”
This was thanking him for always accepting her as she was while simultaneously encouraging her to never settle.
“It’s more than a bond,”
“He is my family,” he agreed. “But you? You are my light.”
“Baby girl, I’ve always been yours. I just didn’t understand it.”
Maybe the villain had fallen in love with the monster in the end.
“He will come because we are his as much as he is ours.”
“Tessalyn Ausra, I would sacrifice all the realms and all the stars for you. You are perfectly wild. Perfectly untamed. You were not made to be caged, nor were you made to be a sacrifice for a realm that does not deserve such a gift. You were made to live in the light. Go live, little storm.”
