remember my father telling me, “No one will ever love you.” It’s like this private cosmic joke for me. Did my life unfold this way because I wanted to overcome my parents’ harsh criticism? Or despite it?

We all need only one person to believe in us, and for me, that person is Jeffrey. With his love and support, I learned to believe in myself and found happiness and peace.

I did what I loved and just got lucky along the way. In fact, when I was given a Matrix Award for women in media, that’s exactly what I said.

Lesley Stahl got up to introduce the next person, she said, “Why do successful women always say they’re lucky, and successful men say they got there by the force of their talent?”

I concentrate on what’s in front of me and work hard because I love what I do, and I have fun doing it. And then I leave the door open, so I’ll be ready when the luck happens.
