The Sixth Border War of 1834-1835 was a devastating blow to the Boers, plunging them into a state of desperation and distress. The Xhosas burned down 456 farmhouses and looted 5,700 horses, 115,000 cattle, and 161,000 sheep, financially ruining the Boers and leaving them emotionally exhausted.[410]
