Until I turned my head to see Jason doubled over in laughter. “Why are you laughing?” I demanded. “You . . . punching a goose . . . I will never forget it.” He could barely get the words out.
You can’t reason with a goose.” “I know the feeling. You can’t reason with you, either.”
“I like how ordinary things seem special through your eyes.”
“Lia, if you’re going to sneak out again, send for me.”
Artemisia might not have chosen one yet, either. And probably wouldn’t, unless the goddess had a murderous, destroying aspect that I was unaware of.
“I swear it on my life,” he said, putting one of his hands over his heart. “Even more meaningful, I swear it on your life.”
