When I was a child, my parents tried to raise me in the church like they’d been raised, but it didn’t work out. I could never accept the idea that God was all-knowing, all-powerful, had created us, and yet sent us tests. I couldn’t see a logical way for him not to already know how we’d react, and when I asked the priests and my parents to explain it, all I ever got was, ‘The Lord works in mysterious ways.’
