When I was a child, my parents tried to raise me in the church like they’d been raised, but it didn’t work out. I could never accept the idea that God was all-knowing, all-powerful, had created us, and yet sent us tests. I couldn’t see a logical way for him not to already know how we’d react, and when I asked the priests and my parents to explain it, all I ever got was, ‘The Lord works in mysterious ways.’
Martin thrust a triumphant finger in the air, and yelled, “Ah ha! HA! Ah ha HA!” He turned to Ampyx, smiling broadly, and said, “Huh? Eh?” Ampyx crossed his arms, nodded in deep satisfaction, looked at Gwen and said, “Mmm-hmm.”
For a smart person to argue with a dumb person, they have to dumb down their logic on the fly, while the dumb person thinks in dumb logic naturally, giving them an advantage.
