"You must have little faith in Forest if you think she is capable of dying easily."
"When you remove a man's tongue, you are not afraid of the defamation he might bring to your name, rather than the truths he might speak. Truth brings clarity, and clarity breeds defiance,"
"Life was much easier when I wanted nothing at all," he pauses his twirling. "Wants turn the kindest man cruel and the wisest man into a fool."
"Did your wants turn you cruel?" I question. This is the most I have gotten from him without watching him double over in pain. "Worse," he stands up, looking toward the cell doors. "They made me care."
"You should not worry about her." His smile rises. "You should worry about whoever was foolish enough to take her."
Before the ash, what was there?
Love is blinding. It continues to make her arrogant to the truth.
"First, we send a message." Josh's eyebrows rise with confusion. "How else would we get our Dove to fly?"
Innocence and peace were the words I used to use to describe her. Looking at her now, I know that is no longer the case. Vengeance and anger emit from her.
Do not mistake my empathy for those I love as a weakness,"
Xavier might have come here for retribution, but revenge has already claimed Forest's soul.
"War does not determine who has won, only who is left standing,"
"You can strike me, cut me, or bring me to my knees, forcing me to beg for mercy. You can break my fingers or slice my ears clean off. I will embrace every torturous action you inflict on me with a smile, savoring the taste of my own blood dripping down my face. I am no stranger to pain, Forest Blackburn. Don't make empty threats toward me unless you are willing to see what I look like when I'm not protecting you,"
Once more, I am reminded of what Xavier truly is. He is my devil, and I am his reckoning.
“Search all you want. Dove, Forest, the woman I love. It all comes back to you."
My back is running out of room to house the shame I carry each time I see where I landed all of us.
I would gladly break my neck if I didn't have so many cards in the game."
"I made death bow on his knees and gave the angels a reason to fall.
“Do you feel the darkness that has crept into your soul?”
“Crept?” I question. Forcing my hand out of its chest, reveling in the way its dying heart rests in my hand. “I invited it in.”
"Which is why I have to prove I'm worth more to you above ground than six feet under,"
