This time, I’m sure she’s going to smile at me. And then once I know how to make her smile, I’ll make her do it over and over until she’s sick of me. She’d better not smile at anyone else but me.
“I’ve been wanting to get a feel of that—” “Stop talking. You’re not hot enough to open your mouth too.”
“Speaking of my grandfather, how’s his gout? Is it any closer to killing him?” I ask hopefully.
A string of extra bad boyfriends landed her in this place after the last one convinced her to start dealing, and then she tried gouging his eye out when he cheated on her in her own bed. Her reaction was justified, if you ask me.
“There are twenty-seven bones in the human hand. Breathe in her direction again, and we’ll find out whether I can break them one at a time.”
“Don’t pretend you don’t like it, Blaze. You’re looking at me like you hate me, but you’re riding me like you love me.”
Then she touched me—well, she slapped me. But she chose to put her hand on me. Me. And god it makes me giddy to think she willingly put her hand on me. She chose to slap me.
“May he spend the rest of his life behind bars or in a grave.” “And that his dick game is as good as his smolder… and his cock is as big as the rest of him.” “Charlie,” I scold. She shrugs. “If you don’t want to tap that, I will.” “Unbelievable,” I mutter.
“The man you’ve never wanted, but the one who has, and will always take the fall for you.”
“At the beginning, middle, and end, you’re the only one I’ll ever want. You’re mine, Blaze.”
“For you? I’ll burn it all.” How he’s looking at me is enough to push my head against the window to get away. There’s a fire blazing at my back, but his stare is on me. I hold the eyes of a pyromaniac. How dangerous is it to be chosen over flames?
Kohen’s soft lips graze the shell of my ear as he whispers, “Hate me all you want, Blaze. But I could never hate you.”
“I am done paying for the crime of my birth.” It’s time those men reap the consequences of their actions. No matter the cost. Something akin to pride blooms in the golden irises of Kohen’s eyes, and sparks of admiration curve across his lips. “I told you, Thief. If you want a fire, you just need to ask.”
Still, ten out of ten. It worked. I’m hard. “A girl like me is in hot demand.” My dick deflates. “If you walk in there with anyone but me, their family won’t have a say on whether they get cremated or buried.”
piece—the slice that perfectly fixed every wrong. Maybe this isn’t the start of an addiction; it was always there. I’ve just found the correct dose. “Don’t look at me like that.” Blaze whispers, staring up at me with her eyes the color of the hottest fire. “Like what?” “Like you want to eat me alive.” Her gaze goes down to my lips, then back up. “I’ve been dying for a taste of you since the moment I was born.”
The klepto grabs a fistful of my shirt and burns her stare into me as she says, “If anyone touches you, I’ll rip their ear off with my teeth.” Satisfaction ripples down my spine as my brows lift. I always knew she’d be the jealous type. “Why the ear?” Blaze gently tugs me down to her lips. “They don’t get to touch and hear you speak too. I don’t like knowing you talk shit to someone other than me.”
“Hurry up, date,” Blaze throws over her shoulder, the silk skirt molding around her ass as she moves. “Before my acceptance expires.” I’m going to have gray hairs by the time I’m twenty.
The entire night is filled with her starting fights and stuffing my pockets with all the items she’s stolen while simultaneously complaining that I should have gotten her a dress with pockets.
“He needs to go,” I mutter. She leans against me, lifting her ankle off the ground as if it hurts to stand on. “You took the words right out of my mouth, lover boy.”
Or when he offered to kill McGill for hurting me? I’d be a liar if I said it didn’t make me a tad bit aroused. Who knew he just had to murder a man to get me compliant.
“Chill out. It’s a genuine question. I’m just trying to figure out whether I’m murdering someone with an amateur or a pro.” “No, Blaze. I do not commit homicide often,” he says, exasperated. I push my bottom lip out and wiggle my feet in the air. “That’s disappointing.”
survey our surroundings and keep an ear out for any movement inside when he pulls out a bat with nails hammered into it. Without a word, he pushes it into my hand, then whispers, “I recommend the knees, but the face works too.” When the fuck did he have time to organize this?
He sent two guys to the hospital for me? Blew up a building as a birthday present? Now he’s helping me murder a man and making me my very own weapon to do it? And here I was, thinking that chivalry was dead.
I’m not sure what exactly she’s looking for as she checks for hidden drawers and coat pockets, but she’s in her element, coated in blood, half naked, and seething with rage.
Violent. Deranged. Disastrous. Perfect.
“You haven’t just marked my brain, Blaze. You’re forever engraved into my skin.” “What if you make me come undone and find nothing there that you want?” Brushing my lips over hers, I say, “I’ve seen all of you, and you wedge yourself deeper into my soul every time I see more.”
“That’s what I carved into the bat I wanted to give you when we were kids.” The fiery beauty in front of me sniffles and wipes away the remainder of her tears. “You were trying to kill me with it,” she protests, all hard lines and brimming with fire. There’s my girl. “No, Klepto. Your arms were weak, and you were shit at throwing punches.” Her jaw drops. “I got it for you so you wouldn’t hurt yourself and you’d finally do some real damage.” Blaze’s face twists into a mix of irritation and shock until it settles on a barely restrained smile that lights up the blues of her eyes before her pupils

“How many fucking bite marks am I going to need to tattoo, Thief?” I growl. She shrugs, panting as a coy grin spreads across her face. “Until you’re covered in them.” I could get used to this.
Using my fingers to push my come back into her pussy, I rumble against her ear, “If you let any of it fall out, I’m taping your pussy shut once I’m done filling you next time.”
“Do you think you can just order me around?” “Yes.” God, she’s fucking right.
“He’s one of the good ones.” Despite my anger, I’ve never been more certain of anything. Sue’s lips twist to the side. “Are you sure?” I shrug, a ghost of a smile on my lips as I recall the past month with him and all the years before. “When he was seven, he tried gifting me a bat to fight off the other boys at school. To this day, he’s still handing me bats.” She chuckles, shaking her head. “That’s a true man; the one who sits back and watches their woman raise hell.” She points at my face. “You make sure you keep him.”
“No questions,” I hiss, poking him in the center of his chest. “I almost died trying to get here. I saw a fucking coyote—” The look on his face is somewhere between amused and mortified. “There are no coyotes around here. But—” “Fine. I saw a bear—I don’t fucking know.”
“Blaze. I’d leave everything behind just to be with you. I have, and I’d do it again. I loved you when we were kids. I loved you when you framed me. I loved you nine days ago. And I love you now. Nothing is going to change that. As long as you’re there, I will always be alright.”
“If you had left me, I would have hunted you down and killed you with my bare hands,” I whisper against his neck. His sharp exhale ruffles through my hair as he lowers us down onto the bed, never once breaking us apart. “That’s a good way to go in my books.”
“You’re going to need a bigger bat.” My very own pyromaniac tucks a loose strand of hair behind my ear as his eyes go hard. “Now who the fuck did you kill?”
But I can’t grieve someone who never existed. “You won’t need a jacket,” I say beneath my breath as I light the match, recalling my grandfather's words when he left me inside the frozen tub. “It’s warm in hell.” The match falls into one of the puddles of gasoline that’s decorating the house, and the entire hallway lights up in golden flames in the blink of an eye.
Taking her left hand that’s clutching my shirt, I slide a ring onto her finger. She’s always been mine, but now she has a ring she’ll never need to steal from me. Blaze breaks the kiss, snapping her attention to the silver band around her finger and the black sapphire stone sitting in the center. Her lips part as she stares at the ring for three agonizing seconds. Then a ghost of a smile plays on her lips. “You know you’re meant to ask, right?” “It wasn’t a question.” A smug grin pulls at my mouth. “What if I want to say no?” Reaching into my pocket, I grab the industrial-strength super glue I
