There was always something, or some greater good, and innocent people always got caught in the middle. She just hoped they could do what was needed without hurting any innocents.

This finally seemed to mollify the crowd and Thorgrim had to fight not to demand to know what made them feel better. Knowing their own priest was looking into it, or being told they were okay by a young male human. Either way, it was a reminder that the other races were occasionally subtly made to feel less, and there was little they could do about it.
Life was a variety of different feelings and experiences, and a satisfying life contained all of it over time. No life was untouched by grief, despair, happiness, love and joy. Without one, the other couldn’t be appreciated.
He was looking at life through the lens of believing that all experiences had merit, but he wanted to be surrounded by good people.
