There are few things I hate in this world as much as a thong. Between the string trying to crawl inside of me with every shift of my thighs and the perpetual feeling of having a wedgie, I’m usually stuffing any I’ve been peer pressured into buying into the back of my drawer. Panty lines? I embrace them. They’re better than having my butt cheeks flossed.

Bryce halts her croissant tapping and instead places her hand over mine, squeezing. “No. Wherever your head went just now, the answer is no.” “A cheating man is not worth that frown. No man is, cheating or not,” Poppy adds.

The angel on my shoulder grins proudly. Fuck me, I’m really about to do this. “I’ll drive you,” I huff. She whips her head in my direction, eyes full of curiosity. “To the salon?” A deep breath. “The salon. Home later. To work tomorrow. Just tell me when.” “You’re offering to be my chauffeur?” It sounds even more ridiculous coming from her mouth. “Don’t make me take the offer back.”

I can take care of myself, but I also deserve to be taken care of if I wish to be. Truly taken care of.

“Not only did he not deserve you because of what he did, but a real man fights for his woman regardless of whether she’s going to hit you in the crotch with a baseball bat while you try to or not,” he says, firm and final.

“And what am I?” he asks, nearly groaning the question. Digging into the well of my confidence, I answer, “My man.”

“I don’t have to look inside to know. You listened to me.” “I always listen to you.”

“One last move. One more new beginning. But this time, you won’t be alone. We’ll do it together.”
