The data also has two additional benefits to LinkedIn. First, LinkedIn can create new products based on rich data. Second, for a competitor to lure the LinkedIn user, it would take a lot of time to recreate all the value that already exists on LinkedIn. The down side is that these endorsements don’t include examples or details of a person’s expertise. For example, if someone is endorsed as an expert in web design, I’d like to see a link to his or her design portfolio.
