Perimenopause is the phase that can start eight to ten years before menopause. Menopause simply means the end of your menstrual cycle for a continuous 12 months. Post menopause in when you have had no period for twelve months and hormone levels have reached their permanent low. This transition time is different for each woman but often lasts for several years.
