The scenery doesn’t give off a welcoming feel,
Looking around at the worn buildings and townsfolk who look like they’re straight from a gothic novel, I’m not confident I made the right choice.
new job at the local mental institution
a row of townhouses. The one I rented from an ad online is number 666.
The place is fucking spooky.
If the people here are afraid of the asylum, shouldn’t I be?
we had a murder/suicide twenty years ago. It’s a creepy story, too.
A nurse fell in love with a patient, and when their plans to escape here together failed, he killed her and then himself.
“That’s insane! How do you fall in love with a mental patient?” I joke, and she pins me with a severe glare. “There aren’t just mentally ill here, Lyla. This floor is specifically for the criminally insane.
It’s easy to humanize them when we spend so much time with them. Some of them aren’t human at all. Some of them are fucking monsters.”
“Try not to get too close to him, don’t take anything he says to heart, and be quick. The faster you’re out of his presence, the safer you are.”
“Not usually my type, but fuck, you’re pretty, aren’t you?”
“Didn't anyone tell you it's my day, Nurse Morris? I don't have to take meds on my day.”
“They’re not coming to help you, stupid girl. It’s my day!”
That’s all this is. I’m just as fucked up as he is.
The startling image of the blonde woman I watched the guards lead into his room last night is staring back at me.
The woman I saw the guards bring to Neo was found murdered and dumped behind the diner downtown, only two blocks from my townhouse. That can’t be a coincidence. It’s my day, stupid girl.
From where I stand, it seems like the guards fed him someone to kill. Kevin’s words about Neo having a sweet setup at the asylum hit my brain. I try to piece together what’s happening under the administrators' noses.
He’s fucking intense. I never go in alone.”
I’m sure many people here have done things with patients they’re not proud of.”
“Well, if it makes you feel better, I think soon we’ll all be fucking men that need medicine.” I lift my face off the desk and eye her. “Because we’ll be old… never mind, bad joke. Sorry.”
“I don’t know why you have to give me so many problems. Every other nurse says you take your medicines fine for them.” “Mmm, been asking around about me, have you?”
“If you put them in your mouth and crawl them over to me, I’ll take them,” he says coolly as if he’s given me any other mundane command.
“No, stupid girl, I want the pills on your tongue as you crawl to me, or I’m not taking them.”
“Mmm, there’s a good girl. See, you’re not so stupid after all.” For some fucking reason, his praise makes my stomach tighten. I ignore it.
If you want to check that I’ve taken my meds like a good boy, you can check with your tongue.”
they’re all blonde women. Nearly all of them are mothers. Every single one has a case against them with Child Protective Services for abuse against their children.
She had Münchausen's syndrome by proxy and had been making Neo sick for years in an attempt to nurse him back to health.
“That’s right. Being impulsive feels good, Lyla.”
Get some rest, girl. You look exhausted.” You have no idea just how tired I am.
“I’m going to sneak you back into his room. The other guards already know, but we need to go now while the nurses are rounding. Since you just left, he won’t get meds this time, but we have to hurry.”
“That’s where you’re going, right? He said you would return to his room after clocking out.” I sigh, rubbing my temples. “What does he have over you? Is he paying you? Does he threaten you? We can go to the cops together, Kevin.”
“Just look at you, stupid girl. How you look on a murderer’s cock, latched onto it like it’s your pacifier,”
Soon, it starts to feel good. My hand slides between my legs to find my clit. “Don’t you fucking dare touch what doesn’t belong to you. I’ll slit your fucking throat,”
He’s like a man who’s never had pleasure reciprocated, and it makes sadness bloom in my chest for a split second.
“No going back now, stupid girl. Now you’re mine,” he says, leaning down and biting my shoulder.
Because his touch feels so addictive, like it’s exactly what I need, I close my eyes and sigh against my will.
You fucked me because you wanted to. You liked it. So what?”
“You see how you pushed further into me right then, Lyla? That’s what tells me you belong to me. That you’re my brand of fucked up.”
“I’ll burn this city to its foundations if you touch what belongs to me,”
I hate being interrupted when I’m playing. And she’s my new favorite toy.
I don’t give a fuck if she’s scared of me or disgusted by what I do. I only care that she keeps coming back to me. She’s an addiction I’m not ready to curb.
“Making sure you don’t waste a drop of what I gave you. After I fuck you, I want you to stay like this for twenty minutes before you move. And if you move before I tell you, you won’t sit down for a week. Understand me?” She nods in answer.
Twenty. Fucking. Minutes. Let the countdown begin.
The way he came inside me and then made me sit with it as if he was trying to get me pregnant. Fuck, it was the hottest thing I ever had happen to me, and I can’t explain why. Even to myself.
“Go on, then. You can wear some of my sweats for now, but soon you’ll need to bring some of your clothes here and keep them in my dresser. I’m only issued so many, after all.”
“Get into bed,” he orders gruffly, clearly not used to caring for someone. His bedside manner blows.
“If I have to kill us both, you’ll be mine forever, Lyla. So don’t get any other ideas in your stupid little head, do you understand me.”
“Kill this one, Neo,” I mock. “Kill that one, Neo. He should learn to kill on his fucking own. What’s the matter with his hands that he can’t get them bloody? Huh?”
I think you’re going to tell me where the fuck Lyla is.”
