A gloved hand lands on my shoulder as Zach pulls up alongside me. “Who’s the girl?” I don’t answer immediately as I’m still too mesmerized, but slowly, I open my mouth. “My angel.”
“You think I’m just going to fall at your feet like every other woman before me?” He shakes his head gently, a tender smile tracing his lips. “No, Angel. That’s my job.”
“Felicity, there’s only one reason we’d use a drive-through, and it’s got nothing to do with your outfit and everything to do with me keeping you all to myself. See you later.”
“Oh, is that right? Well, I need the details on this guy for making moves on my girl. Can’t say as I blame him for trying though.”
“I’ve never had anyone think of me or remember the little details like that.” I balk at her comment, finding that very hard to believe. How any man could be in the same room as Felicity for longer than five minutes and not want to know everything about her is beyond comprehension.
“I find it hard to believe that you’re not etched into the memory of everyone you meet since you’ve invaded every part of mine.”
Jon’s brows crease together. “Had rules.” His hand darts out, his rough thumb gently brushing over my cheek. “I had rules, Felicity. I don’t anymore.” “Why not?” “Because you’re breaking them, Angel. One by one.”
“I see you, Felicity, all of you. Inside and out, and you’re so unbelievably stunning.”
“Are you nervous?” He smiles, the kind that reaches the creases at the corners of his eyes. “A little, yes. You do things to me I can’t explain. I just want everything I do for you to be perfect.”
I don’t know if I’m what you want, but I also don’t think I’m a bad bet. You rock my world, consume my thoughts, and make me feel like I can be a better person. It’s like you’re the antidote to my demons, and I’m hooked.”
“Date me.” “W-what?” “Date me, Angel. Let me show you how a man should be. Let me hold you, kiss you, take you out, and spoil you. Let me call you mine because, goddammit, I need to call you mine.”
I just want to protect and care for my girlfriend. I’ve spent too long chasing you to blow it. I want to give you everything you deserve.” My stomach fully flips. “You, Jon, you are everything I deserve.”
“For the last few weeks, he’s been coming to help the team with some coaching. After all, we are the local division one side. He’s been paying special attention to my training needs though, walking me through plays, etc.” Jack stares off in awe. “Playing with him is something else; it’s like the stick is an extension of his arm or something.”
“Let me make one thing perfectly clear, Elliott. Come within a hundred feet of my girlfriend again and your nose will be the least of your worries. I’ll take your fucking head off.”
“She told me what you said last night,” I say, my shit eating grin making a return. “And I wouldn’t be concerned over our exclusivity. I plan to make her my wife.”
“You were just doing what you thought was right, and I’d burn the fucking world before I let anything happen to you.”
“Thank you,” I whisper. “You are the most amazing man I’ve ever met. You need to believe me when I tell you that you’re everything. You’re so worthy. What you’ve done for me, for my son, and the kindness you put out into the world. Don’t ever believe you’re anything other than perfect.”
“You are worthy Jon, and you mean everything to so many people, especially to me. You’ve changed my life, and I love you.”
“So, what do you say, Angel? How about marrying me in that gorgeous English garden of yours?”
