Obsession

Robbie is the closest I’ve been to tasting the sweetness of death. I was so close to freedom I could feel its soothing caress wrap itself around my fragile heart.

I grind my teeth, staring him down before moving closer. “Here’s the thing. I am a monster, Needham. If I see something I want, I steal it. So you can hold that little boy’s hand, but he will still go after what he wants. And I want this woman. I want her so badly, every nerve ending in my body vibrates. She’s inside my veins, Needham.” I dig my finger into my temple. “She’s in here, driving me fucking crazy. There’s nothing I won’t do. No lengths I won’t go… I will make her mine.”

“The game changed with you, Savannah. You make me want to chase you to the ends of the earth if it lets me taste your fear in the air. It calls to me like a desperate prayer for absolution late at night.”

“I can’t promise I won’t do the same to you, but I can promise to slay every fucking dragon from your past and bring their heads to you on a silver platter. I’m a monster, Savannah. So, let me do what I was born to do. Let me love you the only way I know how.”

“If tonight is all we have, then so be it. Ruin me, Robbie. Destroy me. Show me all of you. The evil, the beautiful, the raw, the damaged. There’s no part of you I don’t want a chance to love.”

“Let’s see how deep that darkness runs, my sweet Savannah.”

Morally gray is not a word in our dictionary. Black is our color. Black is our song. Black is his love note to me.
