“I guess that’s a compliment in Leah Nachtnebel’s world,” he said, grinning. “You do have a sense of humor,” I acknowledged. “Yup. Train track murders always make me jolly,” he replied.

“Tell me something good, no matter what it is,” Larsen requested, closing a folder on his desk and leaning back into his black massage chair. Liam furrowed his brow. “The tiger population has increased by forty percent in the wild.” Larsen thought about this for a moment before nodding in approval. “Good. A majestic creature like that doesn’t deserve to go extinct because of us human assholes.”
