Dastien pulled the covers down a little. His smile was big, showing his dimples. “Je t’aime, chérie.”
“I’ll go back and talk to the coven. Make a trade, myself for Meredith, and she’ll fix it. I—” “Non.” “Oui,” I said in my best French accent. “Non, chérie! Non.” He started rattling off in French.
Dastien started to growl and I elbowed him. I instantly regretted it. It was like hitting granite. I rubbed my elbow, trying to gain feeling back in it.
“Meredith Molloney is the true mate of Donovan Murry. One of the Seven. Killing her will win you no friends.
The white wolf from my vision sat in front of me. Meredith. She looked up to the sky and howled.
Hell, I was more than fine. I was a fucking wolf.
“Je t’aime, chérie,” he said before kissing me deeply.
“You’re everything to me.”
“We’re mates. Two halves. They can’t separate us. I won’t let them.”
He was everything I wanted. “You sure you want me forever?” I asked. I opened myself to the bond so I could feel what he was feeling. “Absolutely.” No hesitation or question.
This was good. This was the way friends were supposed to be. The way love was supposed to be. Happy.
