“They’re the ones that keep our family running. They keep us together,” he says, clear reverence in his voice. “Each and every one of those women truly have become sisters to me, and I’m not sure I could see our lives without them anymore. They saved me, and they don’t even know it.”
“Yet somehow, your eyes keep me far more captivated than the starry skies above us ever could. I’m not sure I like how easily you’ve put me under your spell.”
I’m feeling more vulnerable than usual, and the way he keeps making my heart race is unprecedented. No one has ever made me feel this way, and I can’t determine what it is about him that captivates me so.
and the way he looks at me is so empowering — like there’s no one in the world but me.
“You make me feel entirely out of control, Raya. I swear this isn’t what I had in mind when I asked you to leave with me. I don’t want you to think there’s only one thing I’m after, but fuck, baby, I can’t tear myself away from you.”
“I would never disrespect or mistreat my wife.” I pause for a moment, understanding his concerns. “Nor would I ever ask her for anything she isn’t willing to give, Bob. She’d be my wife, not my property.”

Even now, he looks at me like I’m the only girl in the room, and I hate it. I hate how much hope he gives me every time he’s near.
“You haven’t replied to any of the texts I sent you.” I cup her face and hold my breath for a moment, scared she’ll recoil at my touch. “I won’t stop sending them, you know? Until I’m able to wish you a good day or night in person, I’ll keep texting you.”
“Let me be clear, Raya. You’re going to be my wife, and I’m going to spoil you rotten. If I want to send my wife something as simple as flowers in her favorite color, I’m going to do so — regardless of who’s watching. I’m going to treat you so incredibly well, you won’t lack for anything, nor will you yearn for anything.”
“It would make me so happy if you’d give us a real chance, Lex. I’m not asking you to change, you know? I’ll take you as you are.”
It’s fucking thrilling to be wanted by her, and I’ve never experienced anything quite like this.
Goddamn. Raya Windsor will be the death of me, and I’ll die a happy man. “Anything for you, baby,” I whisper,
