A low growl tore from his throat. “What the fuck did my brother say to you?”
“This is pretty much as embarrassing as I thought it would be,” I mumbled, gripping my shirt. “You can’t tell anyone about this, ’cause if I start barking, or dancing naked under the moon, or eating squirrels, that shit does not leave this ranch.”
“Is that what you’ve done?” His eyes softened. “No, because you won’t let me.”
Kaillen stilled, as though he’d sensed the shift in me just as I was coming to grips with it myself. “Yes. You are my mate. Mine.”
“You just admitted to being my mate.” “I did.” “And that we’re going to be together.” “Yes, that too.”
His nostrils flared. “I will kill anyone who hurts you or tries to take you from me.”
“I know I avoided you initially after everything went down, but that was then, and this is now. I’ve had a few days to get my head around it, and I know one thing. I want you. I’ll fight for you if I have to. I’ll fight my wolf. I’ll fight the SF. I’ll fight that new fucking realm. I’ll fight whoever tries to stand in my way. I’m not letting you go.”
