I don’t have time for shitty sex in a missionary position with a slow pace and sweet pecks. If sex isn’t desperate, crazed, and frantic, then people are doing it wrong.
And most of all, I hate how much I love every second of his attention.
How rude of you to grab something from my hands. You greedy little thing.”
“Routines aren’t always a bad thing. It’s the unknown we have to watch out for.”
“Duh. Have you seen Liam? His looks alone could get me pregnant.”
I open the door without checking the peephole. “You should fuck Noah and get it over—” Nope. Definitely not Maya. The same blue eyes I spent the night staring into look back at me. Liam’s smile makes my insides feel mushy and hot, a simple look disarming me. “Tempting, but I’d rather not.”
Friend-zoned. Me. Liam Zander.
I’m going to hell. It’s official. Noah, please save me a spot next to you.
“Two can play at this friend game you like. Keep trying to deny the pull between us. I like it. I’m a patient man who can wait you out because I know you’ll give in to me.”
sometimes, the greatest lies aren’t the ones we tell ourselves; they’re the ones we believe time and time again despite all the evidence proving us wrong.
Screw platonic. I want catastrophic.
Sometimes the best changes aren’t the ones you plan for.
In a few days, I turn twenty-nine, which means I’m one year closer to the dirty thirties with Noah.
Kaia eyes Sophie curiously while Elyse goes up to her and runs a chubby hand across the ripped holes in Sophie’s jeans. “You have holes. Are you homeless? We take her home, Daddy?”
An unsolicited image of her hanging out with a kid who looks like me flashes through my mind.
I visit my Bandini princess in her motorhome fortress.
“I raised you to rise above your challenges. Whether it happens in a minute or a day, you will get up. It’s not a matter of if but when.”
I’m about to blow this shit up like World War III.
He gets up too, closing the distance between us, staring me down. “I don’t know why you’re ending our friendship. Just get over your feelings, and let’s go back to normal.”
“This has to do with that boy. I refuse to let you whimper around like a kicked dog when I raised you better than this.”
“Oh, I’m mad. But I can’t exactly say ‘I told you so’ when you’re about one wineglass away from crying into your dinner.”
You won the Biggest Dumbass award. Sorry, it doesn’t come with a champagne shower and a trophy, but hopefully your heart hurts like a bitch because my daughter’s sure does.”
I hope the F1 world is ready for me because I’m about to set fire to the whole fucking thing.
“Nah. It’ll be sooner than that once you start popping out little blond-haired babies with your future wife.”
He taps his temple. “With you, I remember it all. Except my parents aren’t asking you to move here.”
“Oh, babe. You haven’t seen anything yet. No need to wish on stars anymore when I’m here to make your dreams come true.”
Liam is right. I don’t need to wish on stars when I already have everything I could dream of.
I love living in perfect disharmony with her because the best things happen when we’re busy focusing on everything else.
