“What’s your favorite book?” Doubt colors my voice. “If you have a favorite, I don’t trust you. Any book lover has at least five they can name off the top of their head.” His blue eyes hold mine.
“You’re no princess. You’re a motherfucking queen. Don’t let anyone forget it, not even yourself. People think the king matters, but the queen brings down all the other pieces. Good luck in uni, and chug a beer in my honor.”
Her laugh has an airiness to it. I wouldn’t mind making her laugh again, liking the sound almost as much as her voice.
“Routines aren’t always a bad thing. It’s the unknown we have to watch out for.”
“You think I’m perfect?”
“More like someone sent from the gates of heaven to tempt me,”
“Don’t let anyone in on my secret. I’m trying to hide in plain sight.”
“If there is a show, why are you reading the book?” Liam turns to the next page. “I’m going to pretend you didn’t say that.”
“Everyone knows the books are better than the movies or TV shows.” “Says who?” “Says everyone who reads books!”
“Now you’re stuck with me. I have you all to myself, just how I want you.”
“You take up half of my time as it is already.”
“But remember this. I want to get to know all of you, including the parts you’re too scared to share. I want to learn about the man no one else knows. So give me every part of you because I’m not here to piece you back together. I like you too much, just the way you are, broken parts and all.”
“Thank you for believing in me and reminding me of something I thought was long forgotten. I can’t express what that means to me.”
You know what is more unfortunate than falling for your friend? Falling for a friend who has no intention of catching you before you face-plant.
Screw platonic. I want catastrophic.
“I have a confession to make.” I take a bite of mine for courage. “I have a priest for you.”
But I didn’t realize she was saving herself from me because I’m the real villain in this messed-up fairy tale.
Because unfortunately for us, everything in my life is temporary.
Me: What if I have plans? Liam: Do you? Me: No. But thanks for asking. Meet you there.
“You’re a hard man to resist. You’re easily becoming my weakness.”
“My beautiful angel. Too wicked for heaven, too good for hell.”
“I’m ready to drag you to hell before returning you to heaven where you belong.”
Falling in love is ugly like that. And damn if ours turns out to be the ugliest of them all.
How fitting, when I was zero percent ready for her. But here I am, about to jump out of a plane because I like this girl and want to take as many firsts from her as I can.
Liking Sophie is kind of like jumping out of a plane. Exhilarating, addicting, and damn near impossible to forget.
“Didn’t you hear? To play with devils, you need to become one.”
“I’d buy you the whole damn night sky if I could.”
Her glassy eyes find mine, the bright stars reflecting off them, calling out to me like a lost man finding his way home.
Because in the end, us together is like a stormy evening—starless, dark, and destructive.
“Because thinking about you makes my heart ache in ways I didn’t think possible. Because I’m weak around you, and I’d give in to one last time between us. But most importantly, because I love you, and you stomped all over my dream of ever feeling that back from you.”
“How did you know you loved Noah?” Another hiccup escapes my lips. “When it hurt more to be without him than with him.”
“You’re in love with her.” Jax brushes a finger across his chin. “Unfortunately.”
“No Bubble Wrap can save her from you. I know my daughter, and you are the one thing I can’t shield her from.”
I hope the F1 world is ready for me because I’m about to set fire to the whole fucking thing.
The prince can’t be saved if he’s too stubborn about staying locked up in his castle.
You’re stuck with me for life because we’re a duo.” He leaves no room for opposition. “And if I say no?” “Then too fucking bad. You can’t deny a cosmic boom.”
