“You see, it wasn’t her revenge that resulted in Father’s death. It was you.”
His hazel eyes that hypnotized me, and his smile that threatened to bring me to my knees.
I would die here, and I never got the chance to tell Jace how I truly felt—how I had felt for weeks before I even realized it was the mating bond that drew us together.
Witches' senses are even more powerful than the fae’s.
Dark magic took hold of many—the power is nearly infinite, but it comes at a cost.
the part that I didn’t recognize in myself, and the part that terrified me the most, was the fact that I was a man in love.
Lia was everything to me. The universe could crumble beneath my feet, but if I had her in my arms as the realm fell, I would have all I needed.
“Beware of the day the pillar falls, for an heir will rise from blood and malice, and when the moment comes that the enemy weeps, a stranger of kin shall forge the way for the one who was promised.”
“I’ve done a lot for you, beast. Please do this for me.”
Nox then lowered his head to Kellan’s eye level, and for a fraction of a second, I watched pure fear creep into his eyes. It was the most beautiful thing I had seen in weeks.
His eyes found mine, and he gave me a soft, loving smile—right before Vincent got one last punch in,
Nyra and I followed him through it, and it suddenly hit me that there was no going back. This was it. Our lives would never be the same again.
she escaped. On the back of a wyvern. Typical Elianna bullshit.
“Long live the true heir of Velyra. Princess Elianna Valderre!”
I could live up here. Just me, Nox, and the moon. All I was missing was Jace.
a witch can harness the power to manipulate your body by controlling the blood coursing through your veins.
I will follow them to Elianna. I will give her my sword and my support.”
“The willow,” Bruhn started, taking a hesitant step toward us. “It’s…it’s responding to your blood.”
“If you saw what was in their minds, you wouldn’t have let them live either,” she stated in a tone I never wanted to hear again.
“Eyes on the sky there, Nox. I don’t feel like colliding with a flock of birds again.” Which had happened. Twice.
Every day without her, I feel like I can’t fucking breathe. I feel like the air is torn from my lungs.
Climbing up the back of this magnificent, assumed to be extinct beast, was my queen.
I stretched my arms out and dove toward my mate, jumping directly into him. He caught me effortlessly.
Jace fell to his knees while holding me firmly to his chest, and let out a sob. A sob. The man who refused to show me even a flicker of emotion, aside from resentment,
He broke away from the kiss and pressed his forehead to my own. “You’re home,”
“Nox, this is Jace, Gage and Zaela. Our…” I looked at my friends and mate for a brief moment. “Family.”
they trust me. And I will trust and believe in you until I take my last breath. They go where I go. And I go with you.”
“Which one of those fucking pricks did this.” A demand.
“I will kill him for that.” The corner of my mouth tipped upwards. “I know.”
“You were covered in blood.” His tone darkened. “It wasn’t mine.” I smirked. A breathy laugh left him. “That’s my girl.”
“Eight,” he whispered, voice shaking. “They whipped you…Eight. Fucking. Times.”
Jace lathered soap into his hands and began washing the dirt, blood, and only the gods knew what else had embedded itself into my hair.
“You’re going to wash me personally, Commander?” I asked softly, teasingly. Jace was silent for a moment. “Please let me do this for you, Lia.”
“There is not a single part of you or your body that I do not find exquisite. Not a single thing that I wouldn’t happily drown in. I have kissed every inch of your body before, and I will do it again.
Because you are mine. Those scars are nothing but a reminder of how strong you are.
Regardless of the outcome of this war, you are my queen. From now un...

I took the blade and sliced it up his shirt, effortlessly tearing through it, revealing the mouthwatering, solid body that hid beneath it.
“The gods aren’t here, Lia. It’s just me.”
There was nothing greater than this—than him. Nothing would ever be greater than him and I together.
“Beautiful,” I whispered, and his eyes flared with affection. My own eyes darted back and forth between his. “I love you.”
You are the possibility of a better future, and that will always be worth fighting for.”
It goes deeper than any other bond known to fae-kind. It connects their hearts, their very souls. Even their scents.”
