All I knew was the world faded away when we were together, and I would burn anyone and anything to ashes to keep it.
If he was the sun, by the old gods, she was the moon. Powerful, dark, and overbearing at times. She never left him, nor he her, as if they danced around each other for eternity.
Perhaps it was truly a funny thing not to realize how broken or damaged you were until someone came along and picked up every single fractured piece and showed you how just being you was enough.
But nothing compared to this powerful, beautiful, handsome god king shoving his heart toward me and praying I did not hurt it. He was by far the most shocking and wondrous thing I had ever experienced.
I grabbed the edges of my gown and bowed. “Hello, Reggie.” “Ugh, please don’t ever bow to him. I can only handle one ego at a time.”
My last thought was and always would be her. I feared for the world and what they’d unleashed.
“Your burdens are my burdens, and we take care of each other, okay?” I clasped her pinkie with mine and nodded. “Promise.” “It’s practically law, you know.” She placed a kiss on our joined hands.

me. “I was wrong. I would rather fight every day with you than be without you.”
“How could I not be completely and utterly in love with you?” “You love me?” My heart melted. “With everything I am and everything I ever will be.”
“Dianna. Ayla. Akrai. My world. My life. My love. Will you marry me?” “No.” His brows drew together so tightly I worried about his face freezing that way. My smile was so big it made my cheeks hurt. “I’m kidding. It’s yes. It’s a thousand times, yes.”
“I fear no gods and no kings.”
He was a god in the true sense of the word: terrible, beautiful, and overflowing with power. We were all wrong. She was so wrong.
