Imagine my joy today at seeing some rural areas brimming with new life as the homestead tsunami takes hold and thousands of urbanites return to the country. The internet has been a godsend, enabling people to work from home or at least not have to commute to the city office. Forget the commute. Forget the “where do we go for lunch?” Forget the office wardrobe. Instead of a commute, many of these folks can spend their time planting tomatoes or milking a cow. I call that a life upgrade.
