I missed this. I missed him. However focused I am on my program, on other parts of my life, it always comes back to this—this golden connection between us that lights up when we’re intimate, making me warm absolutely everywhere. “Is Tangy going to be in the wedding?” I tease. “She did bring us together,” she says. “Imagine her and Kiwi wearing bowties.” “Or maybe we’ll have a dog of our own by then,” I say. “I still vote golden retriever.” “That’s because you are a golden retriever.” She pecks me on the lips. “Fur babies are still as far as I’ll go.” My throat feels all blocked up, but in the best of ways. “I love you.” She takes my hand, squeezing it between hers. “And I love you.”
