Faith is belief in the promises of God, spoken in truth, supported by evidence, and accepted by the reasonable mind. As John Stott puts it, “Faith is a reasoning trust, a trust which reckons thoughtfully and confidently on the trustworthiness of God.”127 For Stott, faith is impossible without thinking.128 He states that “true faith is essentially reasonable because it trusts in the character and the promises of God.”
