He knew her self-pleasure like the back of his hand, but this was different than when she touched herself at night. It continued to build, and he was hyperaware of everyone in the ballroom watching him. Amelia’s orgasm brought him to his knees. A moan of pleasure tried to break free, but he slammed his lips shut. There was no choice but to ride it out in the least humiliating way possible.
“Everyone has a moral line they won’t cross.” His chest heaved, and Amelia braced a trembling hand against his chest. “I don’t need a line to know what’s considered good or bad, but if I did,
Fawn shrugged and plopped down at the table across from where Amelia took a seat. “This was my last stop of the day.” Her eyes lingered on Amelia’s now exposed ears. “I’m from the winter region of the Human Kingdom,” Amelia told her with a wry smile. “Bet you feel silly for curtsying now.” Fawn pushed her hair behind her own human ear and smiled back when Amelia’s eyes rounded.
“Where did she touch me?” he repeated, punctuating every word as he held out his arms. “I was distracted. Show me exactly where.” Her eyes turned to slits. “This isn’t a fucking joke, Rennick.” “I’m not laughing, love.” Annoyance pulled at her mouth. “Your right arm.” “Where on my right arm?” She stared for a moment and touched his upper arm lightly. “Here.” Leaning down, he removed a dagger from his boot, held it against his skin, and sliced downward, flicking his wrist outward to remove a thin layer of skin.
“There is no longer any part of my body she has touched.” He kissed her forehead and felt her fury and jealousy dissolve. “You were wearing long sleeves,” she croaked. “She didn’t touch your skin.” He shrugged. “I’ll burn the shirt, too.” “Why is that attractive?” she muttered quietly, eliciting a wide smile from him.
A fluffy light brown lynx with white paws and black sprigs of fur sprouting from its ears stared up at her expectantly. It struck her then that lynx were a type of wild mountain cat, and she scooted away, but with every step she took, it followed.
“You told me to stay with Reyna.” Amelia pointed to the snow leopard. “If you weren’t here, Reyna would let me see him.” Echo considered her words and turned to the giant cat sitting quietly in the hall. “If he hurts her, I will use your fur as a rug.” The man looked at Echo appreciatively. “If you ever move to the Desert Kingdom, you will have a job as my guard.”
“She was, but not because she didn’t want a girl, because she knew she’d never see you again until I took the throne.” The somberness in his tone tugged at Rennick’s chest. “She gave Father an excuse to stay another month with Charlotte to give herself time with you.”
“You were always loved, and I came for you as soon as I could.” Face in her hands, she nodded, unable to speak through her cries. Eddy whined and pushed his body into hers.
