Hello, darling.
My thumb brushes over the messy scrawl, a hint of a smile tipping my lips. Is it fucked up that he broke in to leave these? Sure. But it’s also sweet… in a disturbed kind of way. He even got me my favorite flavor sucker—and a shit ton of them, to boot.
God, I’m fucked up.
I sigh, stepping over Mark’s body to close Lillith’s door. “Fucking leaves her doors unlocked in this neighborhood. The woman is going to give me a heart attack…” I continue muttering angrily as I throw Jack over my shoulder. “Piece of shit city. Worthless vermin crawling around at all hours of the night.” My face twists in disgust as Jack’s blood seeps into my clothes. “And now I’ll have to get my jacket dry-cleaned. Fucking fantastic.”
So he’s pissed I didn’t lock my doors. That’s… sweet, right? Right?
“Let me break you, Lillith.” I promise you’ll only regret it for a little while.
“Because you’re not actually a good girl, are you?” he hisses, his breath hot against the shell of my ear. “You’ve been bad, little flower. And bad girls deserve to be punished.”
“You’re so perfect, my little flower. Let me make you feel good. Let me worship you.”
“Are you sure I’m not hurting you?” I shake my head, a chuckle building in my chest. “Lillith, you’re saving me.”
“But I’m selfish. And that’s exactly why I can never let you go, no matter how much better you deserve.”
“My sweet little flower,” I whisper, reaching up to cup her cheek. “You’re one of the strongest people I know. But just because you’re capable of taking care of yourself doesn’t mean you have to. You’ve been living your entire life for others; giving everything you are, and then what’s left after that, as well. You deserve to be taken care of, too.”
“I am home,” she whispers, brushing her thumb over the tortured flesh. “You’re my home, Kain. I never really knew what that meant until I met you, but I do now.”
“It’s banana pancakes in the morning. The smell of your aftershave. Sweet nothings whispered when we’re both half asleep. You’re everything and nothing that I ever needed, and I’m not going anywhere. Not without a fight, that is.”
I’d find you in every lifetime, little flower. You shouldn’t have worried about that. It was only see you later and never goodbye.
