As Lillith shuts her window, I’m struck with the desire to do something for her. Something to bring back the light in her eyes. I rack my brain, thinking back to how her lips lifted in the smallest of smiles when the bird started pecking at her breadcrumb offering. As much as she loves the animal, she also loves being able to take care of something. If I bring her a present for her pet, maybe I’ll see that smile again.
