“Oh, I’ll carry you, Drop. Try me.”
“I don’t think I’ll need to, Everly. You’re as small as a raindrop.”
“Your husband, Mrs. Hardy, will make you regret going to another man for anything.”
“My late partner’s daughter, and she can’t even answer … doesn’t know which. My wife has no understanding of what really makes her so wet she’s dripping down my hand.”
“I’ve always noticed you, Drop, no matter how damn hard I try not to.”
“Everly, my wife gets what she wants, and if I don’t know what that is, I just get everything.”
“Makeup won’t change that your eyes rival the color of the sea, Drop. Or that your lips were made to be kissed by mine.”
I hoped one day she would understand that I’d fallen so beyond in love with her that I was willing to do the one thing that would make her hate me. Betray her.
“It means everything because I can’t live without you. I’m so far in love with you that I can’t see straight. You know I go to bed touching this?” I held up my hand and pointed to the string on my ring finger. “And I wake up, still touching it like it can bring me closer to you. I’ve suffered days with seeing the hurt in your eyes and wanting to make it better, with seeing you pulling away, and wanting to pull you back. I. Love. You.” I ground out.
One tackle. He pointed to me and mouthed, “For my love.” Another tackle. He held up his hand and pointed to the black string he still wore on his wrist and mouthed, “For my wife.” He did it over and over. “For my son.” “For my family.” He even did one for all his fans. “For HEAT.”
