“Does that make you mine then?” I look into his eyes, more nervous than I should be considering what he just confirmed, but my lack of self-worth doesn’t care. I need the reassurance. “Yes. In every way you’ll have me.”
Steeling my spine, I square my shoulders and tell my mother what I should have years ago. “I am not my father and I am done raising your children.”
“I guess you missed that I love you.” He shrugs. “You missed that you’re it for me and I will make damn sure that I’m it for you.”
