“Eurydice will see you now, daughter of two worlds.”
“A sword?” Graylen raises his and points it at me, the tip mere inches away from my heart. “Are you trying to seduce me?”
“I’ll never leave you,” Graylen says softly, and I let out a sob. “Focus on me. Let it out; I can handle it.”
“Withheld truths swirl around like flies on a decaying land.” The Sacred tilts her head to the side. “Are you prepared for light to be shed on it? It’s on the horizon.”
“You will take your trial at the next harvest moon.”
“But all you have to do is ask, little princess.”
“I’d kneel before you all day if that’s what it took,” he says, his voice dipping deeper than I’ve ever heard it.
“You will be my undoing,” a voice groans into my mind, crowding my thoughts—his voice.
“Whoever did this to you better be dead,”
his fingers out across my leg. “If they aren’t, then they will be soon.”
I’m still chasing you, little princess. I will always chase you—as long as you let me.”
“There is no one else, Lunaria,” he says into my mind without pulling his lips away from mine. “There will never be anyone but you.”
If you asked for the stars, I would find a way to carve them out of the sky and hand them to you—Caelum be damned.”
“I will rip your fucking throats out,”
