Capitalism has an inherent trade-off: it brings an abundance of goods to the market, but it degrades the environment in the process.52 Large companies cut down trees to make paper; drill to excavate oil; pollute the air to deliver packages; warm the planet as a result of farming cattle; create non-biodegradable plastic to package merchandise; contaminate water to manufacture goods.
