By finding something—anything—to enable us to keep the pathways of hope open and a positive attitude alive, we can deal with loss, suffering, and tragedy bit by bit. “Survivors take great joy from even their smallest successes,” writes Gonzales. “Count your blessings. Be grateful—you’re alive.” So, yes, it’s a blessing to be healthy. It’s a lucky thing if we live near a park or have access to the great outdoors.
