“I’ve got to say, even though you seem to despise me for some reason,” he glances up at me, “I always seem to have a good time whenever you’re near.”
I must be fucking dreaming because I hear the most beautiful sound I’ve ever heard. My eyes widen when I look back at her and she’s laughing. She’s laughing. With me. Holy shit. My heart is about to leave my chest. This beautiful woman is laughing, and she scrunches her nose when she does. God, she’s adorable. I’d never tell her that because she’d probably cut my balls off, but she’s so fucking adorable I want to kiss her. So. Fucking. Bad.
“Put some on me,” I tell her, patting her cheek. “You want a face mask?” “Hell yeah.” I grin. “You can’t be the only one that looks good in this relationship.”
“I wish you could see yourself how I see you,”
“You deserve so much more than just fine, Leila.” Those intoxicating blue eyes bring me a kind of peace whenever he looks at me. “You deserve everything.”
“Are there any vegetarian dishes here?” I ask her, trying to find something that sounds good. “All of it is vegetarian.” I lift my head. “Excuse me?” She smiles. “This is a vegetarian restaurant.” I glance at Aiden who shrugs, glancing at me. “Didn’t want you to have limited options,” he replies making my heart beat even faster.
“I would give it all up if it meant I could have you.” My god, this man is breaking my heart. “You could never be a mistake.”
“I want you to be my girlfriend. The hiding and sneaking around… it was enough for me before. I didn’t want a relationship. Basketball was always too important to mess it up with a distraction. But you’re not a distraction. You’re my calm through the storm. You’re the one person I want to be with when I feel my worst.”
“I’ve never had a home or a family… but you’re starting to feel like the closest thing to it.”
“You are the worst mistake I have ever made.” Those words hit me like a knife as I watch her walk out of my life. But not out of my heart.
“Where are you?” I lift myself off the couch, opening the door. “Anywhere you want me to be.” She laughs. Fuck, I love that sound. “Can you be here in ten?” I’m already out of the door when I say, “Make it five.”
“I feel like I’m five again, picking flower petals. He’s lying, he’s telling the truth. He loves me, he loves me not.” “Loves you,” he says, staring into my eyes. “He loves you so fucking much.”
