“HEY, MARLOW.” “Hey, lolabug.” “Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of Daddy and Waffles while you’re gone.”
Dylan might think of me as the color in his life, but he’s the brushstroke and the canvas in mine.
“I love you, sunshine.” The declaration spills freely from his lips. “You own my heart and soul, and I’ll spend the rest of my life showing you how much you mean to me. No matter the distance between us, you’re mine. Now and forever,” he vows.
I’m with a man who loves me unconditionally. A man who is giving me the chance to spread my wings and will be there waiting when I’m ready to fly home to him.
“Don’t forget, sunshine, you’re mine.” “And you’re mine,”
While I can’t be there in person to care for Marlow, I’m committed to showing her she is cherished and loved, even when I’m thousands of miles away.
I hate missing all these important milestones, making me feel guilty for being across the world when I should be home with my little girl. I may not be her biological mother, but in all the ways that count, I consider her mine.
“I’m so proud of you, boy,” she croons as she scratches him behind the ears. I clear my throat. “What about me?” “You want a good scratch behind the ear too?” she taunts, sending both my brothers into another round of laughter. God, it’s so good to have her home.
Getting a new neighbor didn’t turn out anything as I expected, but now I know what happens when a single dad gets a nanny for his daughter… She becomes their whole universe.
“What are you talking—” Presley cuts herself off as she points to the ring on Cash’s finger. “What is that?” she asks with a gasp. “My wedding ring.” “I’m sorry, your what?” she screeches. “I got married.” Cash shrugs casually. “My wife is on a conference call, but she will come inside as soon as she’s finished. You don’t mind if we wait for her, do you, Mom?”
