In front of others, I was the "unfit" captain of the armies for her war.
I'm coming with you to make sure you don’t kill him…even though I would love to see it.”
The iron blade was black as night, and marked throughout it were swirling designs carved from polished obsidian.
The shined hilt crafted with unbelievable detail and stained an emerald green so dark that it resembled the blackness of the blade until reflected in the late morning sun.
“I will never have respect for someone that does not show it to me,”
“What is someone with a pretty little voice like that doing out here?”
“To the two enemy commanders in Velyra being prisoners together,”
“Nothing is going to happen to the ship, huh, Solus?! I think the fuck not.”
I looked up into his hazel eyes that I didn't want to admit took my breath away,
She snickered. “It’s adorable that you think I'm going to make this easy for you.”
“I'm choosing to trust you here, which I will most likely regret within the next hour.” “Try twenty minutes,” she mocked.
“I am going to take my dagger from your boot and you are going to stay the fuck out of my way.”
“Pretending you’re dead after we barely defeated a troll. You think that's funny?”
I had never seen him smile so genuinely before—maybe at all. It was absolutely beautiful.
“Goodnight,” he said softly, sleepily. “I’m glad I saved you,” he continued on a yawn.
“Is it respect you want, Elianna?” he asked, his tone alluring and wicked.
“On most occasions,” I answered in a soft, submissive voice I barely recognized, refusing to break his stare.
“Elianna!” he screeched. “Don’t you dare take your clothes off.” I smirked. “Don’t flatter yourself there, Jace.
“You first, Elianna.” “Ladies first, how gentlemanly of you.”
“Who did that to you.” His tone seeped with rage. Not a question, but a demand.
Because maybe I am starting to realize that just because you are not human, doesn't mean you haven’t suffered at the hands of horrific kinds of fae and humans alike.
yet still keeps the secrets of her kingdom to protect the ones she loves…” He paused for a moment. “Is someone I would want on my side.”
We are both realizing the truths that we chose to be blind to throughout our lives.”
His lips never left mine, and as we were free-falling through the air, it felt as if time had ceased.
There was nothing else in the world. The war did not exist, nor did our hatred for each other.
“Then mark my words, Elianna, no matter where our journeys take us…if you desire it, that kill is yours to claim.”
“Lia. You can call me Lia.” His answering smile made my traitorous heart skip a beat.
And being lost felt better than risking the threat of the whip.”
Why did I feel this way so suddenly over a female I met only days ago? It felt right in the moment, and it still felt right now.
