Give us, gracious Lord, the faith to come right up to you, to touch you in the crowd, to say what it is we need and want you to do for us.

Give us, sovereign Lord, leaders in church and state who will serve your people rather than themselves, and who will listen to the challenge of your word.

Teach us, Lord Jesus, what it meant for you, and what it means for us, to live at the place where heaven and earth meet, and to be ready for the time when you want us to act.
