I had my annual checkup a few weeks ago. The doctor said everything looked normal, but maybe I needed a second opinion because something strange was going on inside my chest.
Society painted women as gossips, but truthfully, no one talked more shit than a group of blokes.
Tell me, how did you meet Asher? Do you have a boyfriend? Are you interested in children anytime soon?” Scarlett gaped at her, her eyes wide. “Mother!”
“I can’t lose you.” “You won’t.” His voice sounded thick, or maybe that was the weight in my chest talking. “You won’t because I won’t race anymore. I don’t need it, but I need you.”
“When Brooklyn called and told me you were in the hospital…there are no words to describe how I felt. It was like the world had collapsed and buried me beneath its rubble. And even though she told me you were alive and that you weren’t in serious danger, I couldn’t think, couldn’t even fucking breathe until I saw it with my own two eyes.”
I was surrounded by the best luxuries money could buy, but I would give it all up for the chance to see her again.
