“Women run this fucking world, but we have to let men think they’re the ones in control. Without us, your legacy would die. Your name forgotten.”
“Part of the rules—everyone must serve. You are put to the test. Fight to your death so to speak. Our daughters have to spread their legs…” She shrugs. “As if that’s hard to do. But you, the men…three years without sex and then given someone to fuck? You’re like a kid on Christmas morning. You parade her around like the trophy you’ve won, and it makes you feel like a man again.”
LeAnne.
I love you, Charlotte.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to know you can’t protect the one person you love?
“Sometimes love needs a little push.” Adam drops my hand. “And when a Lord decides he wants you, he makes sure he gets you one way or another.”
“You look more beautiful than I imagined,” I say softly, and her heavy eyes open. Her pretty face is covered in her drool, tears, and my cum.
“Eyes open, doll face.”
“I’m sorry, Charlotte. I couldn’t kill you. I love you.”
In a world where it’s either you or me…I’ll always choose me. I hope my wife still feels that way.
“Do whatever they want you to do. I’m so sorry I let them hurt you. I promise that I love you. Just do whatever they want you to do. Can you promise me that, Charlotte?”
“I love you,”
“Stay back, love.”
“That’s it, love,” Kashton says softly.
“Give him hell, love.” He
“But then I fell in love with you,” I add. “And none of that mattered.”
“I did what I thought was right. When put in any kind of situation where it’s either you or me, it’ll always be you.” I’ll always put her first.
“My life doesn’t matter if I don’t have you in it.” She interrupts me. “Don’t you get that?”
“You said you wanted to spend forever with me. Do you still mean that?”
“To some, forever is only a matter of seconds.” She throws my previous words back into my
“There is no amount of time that will be enough with you,”
“I’m glad you’re okay, Haidyn, but if you ever leave me again, I will throw another knife at you, and I will kill you myself.”
“When I die, I want it to be by your hands, doll face.”
“It’s okay, doll face. I’m here.” She sniffs again, and her arms
“I’ll never leave you.” I interrupt her, knowing exactly what she was going to say. “I promise.”
“No.” I frown. “I married you because I love you,” I say truthfully.
“Does the thought of me kidnapping you turn you on, beautiful?”
“Words, Charlotte.”
When you fall in love with the devil, you see him differently.
“I love you, Charlotte,”
I tell her. I hope she knows that by now, but I want her to hear it. I was taught that words mean nothing, but she’s made me realize they are important.
“I love you, Haidyn.”
“Whose getaway car do you think Ash used the night she ran?” Adam asks Saint, and the room falls silent while Saint’s body grows rigid. Adam’s eyes slide to his sister’s. “I was trying to make it right.” Walking over to Saint’s desk, he steps in front of Ashtyn. “I regret not being able to save you the night Tyson called me. I know you don’t believe me, and you owe me nothing, but I’ve been trying to make up for that night ever since.”
“But I do want you to know that you are the only woman in my life. You are the only one for me. My past with her doesn’t dictate my future with you. Do you believe that, doll face?”
“I do.”
“But I do know he fell in love with you. And I can’t tell you how happy I am that he found you and to have a sister.” She pulls me in for a hug, and I feel her shoulders shake.
“I love you, Haidyn Jamison Reeves.”
“I love you,”
He runs his knuckles down my cheek while his eyes search mine. I thought I knew who Haidyn was when I agreed to marry him, but I was wrong. He’s more than I could have ever imagined. He’s got a heart of gold and will protect who he loves fiercely. I want to do the same for him.
“I’m not afraid of you, Haidyn. I love you. The real you.”
“I love you,”
“I love all of you.” She reaches up, cupping his face. “But you’re my husband. The only one I want to spend the rest of my life with. I just want all this fighting to stop.”
“You are, doll face. You’re my wife. You’re going to have my babies. None of those things change because of your name.” I open my mouth, but he’s quick to speak. “But if you want to change your name, then change it. Just don’t do it for me.”
In our world, we’re kept as secrets. You can’t talk about who we are or let anyone find out about the society. But Haidyn taught me to use my words. To say what I want and how I feel. I love who I am with him more than I ever loved who I was before he entered my life.
Charlotte Reeves is who I was always...

Charlotte Bailey Reeves
“I’m going to spend my day watching you get off, doll face.”
“How’s that sound, Charlotte? Want to be my good girl coming all over herself?”
Men like me aren’t lucky. We see what we want, and we take it. As I look at the photos she’s framed and hung up of our family over the years, I see the life that I never knew was possible. I guess it doesn’t matter when I die. Charlotte gave me a life that I didn’t deserve, and even if I’m lucky enough to spend forever with her, it still wouldn’t be enough.
