In a world of shouting men, be the one who remains silent, my mother used to say all the time. If they cannot hear you, they won’t see you.
“Why are you in my room?” His tone is as if he’s accusing me of something. “Why did you have my cat locked in here?” I counter. He smirks, and I narrow my eyes on him. Something about him seems familiar. I just can’t put my finger on it… “What can I say…I attract pussy.”
“If you think I’ve been denied a Lady, then why did you ask me about getting married this morning?” “Because everyone deserves someone.”
Allowing myself to fall in love with her is madness. No matter how I try to justify it, the ending will be the same. I can only hope I have time to leave her with something that will remind her of me.
“In a world where it’s either you or me…I’ll always choose you, doll face.”
Sniffling, she shakes her head, remembering the words she once said to me. I nod. “Yes, it’ll always be you. I love you,” I say, leaning down and giving her forehead a soft kiss, ignoring her sob. “Remember that, Charlotte.”
My little rope bunny.
