weak in front of them. “You took a brand. Now you’ve earned one.”
He snorts at my silence. “I never thought you’d be like Adam.” My teeth grind. Again, it’s not my story to defend. Saint can think what he wants. Stepping back, he exits the elevator and says, “For her sake, I hope you stay gone.” With that, the door closes.
She chooses me.
My eyes widen. “Wait. Are you saying the reason my assignment is Haidyn is because my future Lord is a prisoner there? My mother has something to do with it?”
“Then why Haidyn? Why Carnage? It has to be connected, right?” Finally, I feel like I’m getting a little bit of information, but it’s only leaving me with more questions.
“Because everyone deserves someone.” She yawns, and her eyes flutter shut.
I screamed for you. Fuck, I never heard her.
“Dance with me, Mrs. Reeves?”
“I vow to be yours, Haidyn. Forever.” I tell him. Anyone can sign a piece of paper. I want him to know that I’m in a hundred percent. Whatever he wants, I’ll give it to him, including my soul. A Lord demands nothing less. He lifts his hand and cups my cheek. Adam’s eyes meet mine as he says, “Bella Marie Costello.”
“She’s my mother.” Costello is her maiden name. “WHAT?” Kash shouts, making me flinch. Before
“I’m sorry I couldn’t give you the forever you deserved, doll face. But I promise I gave you all I had left to offer.”
To some, forever is only a matter of seconds.
I’m leaving a piece of myself behind with you because nothing short of forever would have been enough.”
You caught his attention, and he watched you long enough that he forgot why he was there.”
“Didn’t you watch the video I sent you?” He laughs and adds, “When he tried to commit suicide.” I step toward my once fake boyfriend, tears running down my face. “Why would you…?”
“I’m glad you’re okay, Haidyn, but if you ever leave me again, I will throw another knife at you, and I will kill you myself.”
“I had him send you a text from an unknown number after your appointment about turning me over to the Lords.”
“It means that you and Charlotte are related,” I answer. Charlotte and Blakely both spin around to face me. “LeAnne has a twin…and it’s Isabella, Charlotte’s mother.”
