Turning to relationships, Solomon says that men are to live joyfully with their wives for all their stupid little days. We think this would sound terrible on an anniversary card—because we are governed more by sentiment than by wisdom. How is this possible? Apart from the grace of God it is not possible. The language of sentimental romanticism is not the language of the Bible.
