“Go back to your room,” I gritted out. A little furrow appeared on her brow. “Why—?” “Because I’m holding on to my last shred of humanity, and if you stand here in those goddamn shorts for another ten seconds, it’s going to snap.”
“Grab the headboard.” “Anson,” I squeaked. “My reckless girl,” he growled. “Been dying for this. Now, grab the headboard and ride my face.”
“Now you know what it’s like, watching you move around in those fucking shorts. Making me dream of having you but knowing I can’t, shouldn’t.” I let out a growl of frustration. “Looks like you’ve got me now.” His fingers curled. “You make me break all the rules.”
Because someone had tried to hurt Rho. Someone had tried to snuff out the only tiny pinpricks of light I had in my life.
“What the hell is going on?” Trace barked. That had me whirling on him. “Don’t speak to her in that tone.”
“I’m glad, because I’m pretty sure I fell in love with a guy I don’t even really know.” Fallon released me so she could take in my face. Easing back onto the edge of her chaise, she grinned at me. “On the upside, it sounds like he was a pretty badass FBI agent.” I couldn’t return her smile. “It’s that he had this whole other side of himself that he didn’t share with me. And I showed him the things I don’t give anyone else.” The grin slipped from Fallon’s mouth. “I know that had to hurt like hell, but I think you need to talk to him. Give him a chance to tell you why he kept it from you.
