Long hair sucks when you swim
This is my problem. I want other people to tell me how they feel. But I’m not so sure I want to return the favor.
I’m going to take you swimming and drown you. Almost drown you. Then I’ll give you mouth-to-mouth and revive you. How does that sound? Sounds good to me.
Summer was supposed to be about freedom and youth and no school and possibilities and adventure and exploration. Summer was a book of hope. That’s why I loved and hated summers. Because they made me want to believe.
“Buy her a milk shake!” Dante yelled. “Girls like it when you buy them something!”
“I didn’t think about it. I made myself not think about it.” She laughed. “I’m good at that.” “Me too,” I said. “And all this time I thought I got that trait from Dad.”
To be careful with people and with words was a rare and beautiful thing.
