People are often threatened by love when they realize both the absence and power of it. What is love if not the one thing in this world that defies logic? Love is the emotion that can make someone run toward danger, but those threatened by it sometimes become the danger.
The dragons were her kin, and there was not a line she wouldn’t cross to liberate her family.

I know time is precious and that we should hold on to it while we can, but forsaking a life in favor of safety seems like a waste. When I greet the eternal darkness, I’ll go there knowing I lived.
“Careful, angel. You give a man a taste of salvation, and he might keep coming back for more.” His arms are shaking from restraint. “Is that what I am to you? Your salvation?” I whisper, brushing my lips against his. “If you are to be my damnation, it’s an end I’ll happily meet.”
Words have given me wings when I’ve needed an escape. Books breathe life into the mundane and have brightened the darkest of days for me with merely some pretty prose and hope.
“Don’t think of it as stealing.” I smile at him. “Think of it as redefining ownership.”

Saying I’m anything other than fine has always been a struggle for me because I despise feeling like I’m burdening someone with my emotions. Plastering on a smile nobody will look too deeply behind because the façade is more palatable is simple.
