I sanitize the needle and loop thread through the top, grabbing a clean rag to dab the blood away. The wet rag thumps when I toss it next to her and begin sewing her wound shut. I dab as needed while issuing the first set of stitches and turn the needle to sew up the wound.
Imirath hasn’t outlawed magic, but it’s not as woven into the culture, which is part of the reason they hate having Vareveth on their border. Before Eagor took the throne, magic was rampant in his kingdom; now it’s only found by those who know where to seek it. Cayden clearly does, and I’ll get the information out of him one day. I’ve always found it strange how people seek to judge what they don’t know rather than taking the time to appreciate new things. I wonder how different the world would be if people ceased thinking the unknown is a threat. People remain ignorant when they don’t open

By the gods…I can’t believe I’m doing this. A life with him doesn’t sound bad at all, but my mind is my own worst enemy, and it twists every interaction we’ve ever had. I can tell he practically feels my memory warping, turning every stolen glance in a crowded room into something calculated.
