Long ago, towns had existed here, and we encountered eerie signs of human habitation:
In North Florida, you’ll find more than one abandoned town, overrun by kudzu, wisteria, and trees. I went back and forth on putting in a description of rusted-out cars, but decided against it, even though there’s an iconic batch of them on the road to Sopchoppy, because in the novels the coast was much less inhabited and there were fewer roads, and for one reason I can’t divulge.
