Had he seen her before? No, and yet, it was as if she’d lived within his mind for all his life. Like every piece of him was crying out, I’ve been waiting for you!
Then she whispered, “You’re in my light.” With a certainty he had never felt in his twenty-five years, the man replied, “You are my light.”
I’ll find you, I say through my numb bond. I won’t ever stop. Your love is my guiding light through the darkness. No force in the Vale can keep us apart.
We’ll come back here again, you and me. I will take you in my arms and kiss you a hundred times, no, a thousand times, because I will never have my fill of you. Then we’ll fall among the leaves and make love like it’s the first time again. The first time of infinity.
If I have to tear the mountains from the earth, the clouds from the sky, the water from the sea, I will do it. Nothing will stop me from finding Rosalina.
unknown to everyone. Except her. I know you. Even before I removed my helm, it was as if she could see right through me, to the blood and bone and soul beneath. It had felt like we’d known each other our whole lives and were just waiting for the chance to meet. She had loved me in the darkness—and I returned her love with more darkness.
If I am not worthy of basking in her radiance, then I will walk behind her as a shadow. As her shadow, I will engulf any who would dim her light. If darkness is all I have, then I will use it to serve her.
“I love you,” I whisper, my voice breaking with emotion. “More than words can say.” He raises his head, his eyes filled with love and adoration. “In the starlight way.” I knot my fingers in the waves of his auburn hair. My mate. My best friend. The love of my life. I want to give Farron everything I am. All of my glowing moments, and my faded ones, too. I know he’ll keep them both safe. I want to bathe him in my sunshine, and dance with him in my rain. I want to know that when I feel like I’m losing myself, I’ll never truly be able to, because every bit of me belongs to him.
Despite the sense of this plan, I can’t help casting a glare at Caspian simply because I don’t like being told what to do.
My body, my heart, my soul . . . it all belongs to her. She can do anything she wishes.
darling?”
“Nothing in this world or the next could keep us apart,”
“Wish me luck, Princess. I’m off to save the world.”
“You have me, Rosalina,” I breathe. “Wherever I go, you have me. Whatever desert I leave my footprints in, whatever wilderness I inhabit or mountain I scale. It was set by the Fates and bound in the stars. You have me.”
“Whatever it takes, I will return to you, my Queen. If I have to crawl, I’ll crawl. If I have to swim through rivers of fire, I’ll swim. If I have to defy the Fates themselves and rearrange the stars, I will do it.”
